‘Do the FIT’ hailed as a huge success

Many people turned out for the ‘Do the FIT’ walk event at the Katara Cultural Village on Saturday, 12 March 2016, to express their solidarity in the fight against bowel cancer.

Organized by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and supported by Katara Cultural Village as Cultural Partner and AlMeera Group, the primary objective of the event was to drum up public support behind PHCC’s call for both men and women, with no symptoms, aged 50 years and older to submit themselves for bowel cancer screening through Fecal Immunochemical Test or FIT.

The impressive response from the public to the ‘Do the FIT’ walk event was truly inspiring. This shows how people can come together and collectively work towards the common good of the community.

‘Do the FIT’ is among several activities lined up by PHCC in connection with the global commemoration of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month in March. As a community activity, 6 lucky participants won valuable prizes that were raffled off at the end of event. Blue shirts were also given away to the first 100 people who arrived early at the venue, while blue bracelets, ribbons and scarves were distributed to all participants. Fruits and water were also offered by AlMeera Group to all participants.
