‘Screen For Life’ expanded ‘October Means Breast Cancer Screening’ message through a wide interactive Outreach Program spectrum

‘Screen For Life’, Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening program, supported its month-long ‘October Means Breast Cancer Screening’ awareness campaign through a wide-ranging Outreach Program with aim of engaging with various communities across Qatar to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The ‘Screen For Life’ outreach team recently organized a series of lectures to raise awareness levels and encourage as many eligible women as possible to undergo a complimentary breast cancer screening at one of the ‘Screen For Life’ screening suites, located at Al Wakra, Leabaib and Radwat Al Khail Health Centers.

The ‘Screen For Life’ team kicked off a series of awareness lectures with various entities including Intercontinental Doha The City, RasGas Al Khor Housing Community, Qatar Petroleum- Mesaeed, American Women Association, DHL, Qatar Tourism Authority, Adagio Premium Apart Hotel, Diva Lounge Spa, Al Khaleeji Bank, United Technologies Corporation – Carrier, Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY), and Qatar Women Sports Committee where attendees heard from Breast Cancer survivor, Chef Aisha Tamimi her inspiring battle against breast cancer.

This month witnessed as well a prominent presence of Screen for Life’s Mobile Screening Unit in various places and companies’ premises offering on ground mammogram service to eligible women. The list of visits included RasGas- Al-Khor Housing Community, Al Hayat Medical Clinic, Sidra Medical and Research Center, Qatar Petroleum-Mesaieed, Qatar Women’s Sports Committee, Diva lounge, Doha Golf Club. Also, the mobile screening unit marked its presence in College of North Atlantic- Qatar for the second consecutive year and in Doha Festival City offering free breast cancer screening services for the first time to mall visitors.

Other companies showed extended support to the Program by placing awareness tent cards in its stores and having its staff wear the pink branded ribbons; including the International franchise retail operator M.H Alshaya Co; Sandwich Factory and Espression By LavAzza, Nails by AND Trading, the Oriental Pearl Restaurant, Diva lounge, Al Mashata beauty parlor, L’eto café, Qatar National Bank, Commercial Bank, and Intercontinental The City

Additionally, Al Khaliji Bank, International Bank of Qatar and Commercial bank showcased “October means Breast Cancer Screening” ad on their ATM machines to drive viral the awareness message.

“To see so many public and private sector entities and multinational companies supporting the ‘October Means Breast Cancer Screening campaign’ is really encouraging. The show of unity in everyone coming together to support our goal is a giant step forward for ‘Screen For Life’ and our mission to reach as wide an audience as possible,” Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, Cancer Program Manager, PHCC.
