Doha, Qatar – May 23, 2016: The Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) took its awareness program a step further with an educative lecture on Breast & Bowel Cancer Screening at the Audio Education Complex School in Al Duhail. The workshop was attended by teachers and mothers and is part of the series of workshops that PHCC is arranging to raise awareness in schools about the benefits of early Breast & Bowel Cancer Screening.
The Audio Education Complex School is an institution in Doha that caters to the educational needs of children with hearing impairment. The objective of the workshop was to highlight the importance of Breast & Bowel screening to teachers and mothers, explain the risks and symptoms as well as preventative measures. The participants showed keen interest and following a presentation several questions were asked.
Dr. Shaikha Abou Shaikha, Cancer Program Manager at Primary Health Care Corporation said. ”True to our commitment to community care it is important that we take our messages to as wide an audience as possible. Teachers and mothers form a significant segment of our audiences and it was indeed heartening to see the response from them. We would like them to get a deeper understanding of the value of early screening which can lead to successful treatment. Our plan is to spread these workshops to other schools.”
“We are truly grateful to the PHCC for their efforts and dedication to the cause of cancer awareness. We are particularly thankful to their team for visiting our school and organizing this very valuable workshop. This subject will go a long way in making teachers and mothers aware of the detection, prevention and cure of cancer. PHCC’s achievements in the cause of community-based health issues have been outstanding and contributes to the general health of the country,’ said Ms. Hessa Al Daleel, Principal of Audio Education Complex School.
PHCC’s ‘Screen for Life’ program works in association with Qatar’s National Cancer Program in accordance with the country’s National Health Strategy 2011-2016. The core objective of ‘Screen for Life’ is to promote education, awareness and detection of cancer through early screening.
